My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is on its way – viral moments from the first chapter (photos + video)

After four years of work, Nia Vardalos' sequel to the first blockbuster is back with more Greek fun

“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, the 2002 romantic comedy that catapulted Nia Vardalos to stardom, has tied the knot with Universal for a sequel. A tweet was made by the writer-star Vardalos a few months back, however the film studio confirmed the news that it is the distributor of the second installment of the film.

The first news that there would be a sequel came from a tweet on the account of Vardalos: “I’m working on the MBFGWedding sequel; now that I’m experiencing motherhood I feel ready to write this next chapter.” She has spent over four years working on the original blockbuster.

The charming John Corbett, who played Ian Miller in the first installment, will be back as Greek-American Toula’s love interest for an even bigger Greek wedding that is set to reunite the Portokalos family together again and reveal a big family secret.
