Vangelis Meimarakis leader of New Democracy, Greece’s major opposition party, accused the government of SYRIZA of brinkmanship. Speaking to Greek radio and commenting on the scenarios of early elections being spread by SYRIZA ministers he wondered whether Tsipras’s own Ministers had already lost faith in him. “Is he that unreliable”, he asked. He continued in very high tones accusing Tsipras of attempting to solve an internal political dispute in his party by putting the future of Greece at risk and calling early elections. He added that if Tsipras decided to call early elections, whoever won would face huge problems. Mdeimarakis said his party did not fear elections.
