ND leader Mitsotakis says Greek government is the problem

Greeks want reforms, he said

The leader of opposition party New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis unleashed an acrimonious attack against the Greek government during his speech at the Action (Drasi) Conference in Athens, Saturday. Mistotakis blasted the government, stressing it was ‘not part of the problem, but it was the problem itself’. He underlined that that Greece needed a government willing to implement reforms, while he dubbed the SYRIZA-ANEL coalition government the worst since the fall of the Junta in 1974. ’New Democracy will be part of that reforming coalition being born in the country’, he said. Mitsotakis outlined that the goals of his government included among other things promoting more aggressive privatisation policies, tax reduction and reinforcing competitiveness in the market. He accused the government of making disastrous decisions that simply reaffirmed the need for reforms for the country to exit the crisis. He spoke of an ‘ideological bankruptcy’ of the left, adding that an increasing portion of Greek society had become disillusioned and was demanding for reforms.
