The Hellenic Parliament will begin today at 11.00 the new period of Regular Plenary Sessions with a traditional blessing ceremony led by the Archbisop of Athens and All Greece Hieronymus.
Under the Constitution, the Parliament launches its regular plenary session on the first Monday of October of each year, while the draft budget is submitted for discussion to the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.
Given that the government has announced its intention to call for a vote of confidence, such a proposal might be submitted by Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras within the day. According to parliament’s regulations, the government may ask for a vote of confidence either with a written or an oral statement of the Prime Minister in the Parliament.
