PASOK’s Eleni Chronopoulou: Her serious accusations against Georgoulis bring turmoil to the Greek political scene

At the same time, information seems to be emerging about a new case against Alexis Georgoulis and another woman, however these have not been confirmed

The case against the former SYRIZA MEP, Alexis Georgoulis, is taking on new political dimensions.

The formal complaint to the police by the executive of PASOK, Eleni Chronopoulos against the well-known actor, was made in 2020 and according to information it concerns “rape and beating”.

It may be that the issue came into the news yesterday after the report of the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and SYRIZA states that he was only informed yesterday, however, as it appears from SYRIZA MEP Stelios Kouloglou, that the case was known from the very beginning in Brussels and in fact, the actor was called to explain himself by the head of the SYRIZA Eurogroup, Dimitris Papadimoulis.

“There were rumors and for this reason Mr. Georgoulis was duly summoned to answer if there was anything and he flatly denied it, saying that there is no cause for concern”, said Stelios Kouloglou speaking to ANT1 this morning.

For his part, Dimitris Papadimoulis, when he saw the issue in the light of day yesterday, wrote on Twitter “@syriza_gr and the Eurogroup reacted instantly, as soon as we learned of the complaint against MEP Georgoulis. The case will be decided by the Belgian authorities according to the legal procedures. The disclosure of the complainant’s information is unacceptable. Zero tolerance for sexual harassment!”.

The “Wonderful Women” page specifically mentions in its post that “in the last hour we have learned that there is a second complaint, as the information is circulating in the corridors of the European Parliament that two years ago an intern at the European Parliament from Thessaloniki reported that she had gone out for drinks with Alexis Georgoulis and the next day she was found physically abused, under unspecified circumstances”.
