Peugeot reportedly ends sponsorship of Djokovic over vaccination status

The Serb will not play in many tournaments after he refused to get vaccinated

Peugeot has reportedly ended its cooperation with Novak Djokovic as the Serb will be absent from several tournaments due to his decision not to get vaccinated.

According to European media outlets, the company is ending its deal with Nole but there is no official announcement yet. The Spanish El Espanol reported that the decision to part ways with the Serb was a foregone conclusion hosting statements by a company executive.

Carlos Tavares, CEO of the Stellantis Group, was asked at a press conference if the sponsorship would continue and said: “No, we will not continue with the sponsorship of Djokovic.” At the same time, Serbian journalist Sasa Ozmo confirmed the development but wrote it has nothing to do with his vaccination status.

Peugeot had said after the deportation of Djokovic from Australia that it would consider the issue of sponsorship but had not reached any definitive decisions of a suspension.

In addition, the French have clarified that they will not accept unvaccinated players at Rolland Garros while the Spaniards have also said the same for the Madrid Open. So the Serb may not play in any major tournaments until June, which means he will not be able to advertise his sponsors.
