Lake Prespa is the name of two freshwater lakes in southeast Europe, share by Albania, Greece, and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Much of the Greek local population emigrated to escape poverty and political strife during the Greek Civil War. In the Seventies, it began to be promoted as a tourist destination. It has an abundance of rare fauna and flora and was declared a Transnational Park in 2000.
