At 850 meters above sea level, Levidi in the heart of Archadia is a place to visit in the winter. It is a place where Christmas trees naturally grow and at an altitude where the air is so light it consists of clear oxygen, putting the rose in one’s cheeks. The stake-house taverns there are highly hospitable and be assured that the local meat dishes a must to taste. A trek to the mountains, where the War of Independence began in 1821, could easily be done just before Christmas.
