“Our goal remains the Western world and our compass is international law and Democracy,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasised addressing his party group in Parliament on Tuesday.

“That’s why in Ukraine we side with the defender. We resist the encroachment of borders and the revival of imperial visions that some would probably willingly want to emulate in our neighborhood. These unprecedented threats are crashing on our own red lines,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis noted referring to the ongoing Turkish aggression.

He continued pointing out that Greece has made it clear that our borders are blue and not gray. “We also want the sky blue in our relations with our neighbours. I am optimistic that the poison will not infect our people because they know that geography does not change when someone tries to falsify the maps and that history is not rewritten with fireworks. We are waiting for the other side of the Aegean to return to the path of reason and peace”.

Commenting on the energy crisis, Mitsotakis said: “We created bulwarks in Moscow’s attempt to turn energy into a weapon for the destabilisation of European societies” adding that “No national budget, nor mechanism, can fully cover the global wave of price rises. That is why I am fighting for a complementary European solution. A ceiling must be placed on the international price of natural gas and there must be a de-coupling of the price of natural gas from that of electricity,” said the Prime Minister. “National budgets should not undermine European solidarity, however, whatever happens in Europe, the plan to support Greek society will continue without disrupting the fiscal balance.”

The PM also lauded his colleagues’ Parliamentary work stressing “You passed more than 330 bills, as a parliamentary group you stood up to the demands of the citizens, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
