Popular fighters claim responsibility for attack at SEV on Nov. 24

The attack caused damage to property but no human injuries

Police confirmed that the far-left “Popular Fighters” group was behind the November 24 bomb attack outside the offices of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), causing significant damage to the building and also to a luxury hotel and the Cypriot embassy. An anonymous phone call tipped the media 40 minutes before the explosion to avoid injury to human life.

A document has been released confirming the group’s responsibility.

The bomb was set by timer and hidden in a bag and placed in front of the SEV.

The Popular Fighters appeared in Greece in January 2013 when they staged an attack armed with Kalashnikovs on the headquarters of the conservative main opposition New Democracy political party at Syngrou Avenue. Since then, they have also targeted the German and Israeli embassies.
