Qatar Airways launces 3 weekly flights to Santorini

It is the 3rd Greek gateway for the airline

Newsroom June 8 07:49

A320 aircraft of Qatar Airways landed in Santorini yesterday, Tuesday, June 7, launching three flights a week to the famous Greek island from Hamad International Airport in Doha.

The A320 aircraft landed at Thira International Airport for the first time and was welcomed by senior Fraport Greece executives. The airline celebrated the event by creating a special menu for the flight, designed to highlight the traditional Greek cuisine. The inaugural flight from Doha was operated by Qatari Governor Abdulaziz Al Kaabi and Greek pilot Andreas Evlambides to honour the first flight to Santorini.

What 2026 brings for Greek tourism

The island is the third Greek gateway of the national airline of the State of Qatar, after Athens and Mykonos. Seasonal flights to Mykonos resumed on June 3 with four flights a week and flights to Athens doubled to two per day, offering more options for business and leisure travellers.

With three flights a week to Santorini, passengers can now enjoy seamless connectivity with more than 140 destinations across the airline’s network worldwide via Hamad International Airport, to popular destinations in the Middle East, Asia, and Australia.

Improved connectivity means customers can leave Australia Friday night and arrive in Santorini on Saturday afternoon.
