The Defense Minister Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos was finally proposed by the Greek Prime Minister Mr. Antonis Samaras on the position of the European Commission Commissioner. In the next few minutes Mr. Samaras is expected to send a letter to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker stating that the Greek proposal for the position of Commissioner is Dimitris Avramopoulos.

The Greek Prime Minister Mr. Antonis Samaras during a telephone conversation with Ms Dora Bakogianni , he addressed that she will be not be running for Commissioner. Although her name sounded strongly as the top candidate to succeed Maria Damanaki, according to information of the Cabinet Office to protothema.gr the  new Commissioner of the European Commission will be Dimitris Avramopoulos.
