Samaras: We need growth orientation for Europe

The leaders of EU believe that the economical growth and new jobs will be their weapons to fight the rise of Eurosceptic trend, as European election result showed

During the first meeting of the leaders of Europe which was held in Brussels yesterday Prime Minister Antonis Samaras stressed the need for growth orientation of Europe in order to create new jobs.

This issue was also posed by the other European leaders stressing that this should be the answer of a united Europe to the powerful waves of Euroscepticism that received such high percentages during the recent elections.

From the French Socialist President Francois Hollande and the British Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, they all agreed that growth and new jobs is the right “medicine” and the most effective weapon for dealing the anti-European forces that with the excuse of economic crisis seek the dissolution of the united Europe.

“Europe must hear what happened in France,” Mr Hollande said, referring to the election of the far-right party National Front of Marine Le Pen. The French President demanded to change the direction of Europe.

Mr Cameron asked EU to deal with the essential issues, which according to him are the growth and new jobs focusing on competitiveness and flexibility.

“In Europe we need more competitiveness, more jobs and solidarity between all of our members” Greek Prime Minister said upon his arrival at the working dinner of EU leaders.
