Serbian sign post prompts diplomatic dispute with FYROM

FYROM wants Serbia to change its sign post to refer to the construction of a highway to the “Republic of Macedonia”

Relations between Belgrade and Skopje are being tried on account of a signpost at the south of Serbia that refers to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia as BJRM (the Serbian equivalent of FYROM). The post gives information on the construction of the E-75 highway at the south of of Serbia. Specifically the title of the post states: E-75 Highway Construction, Route 10, Belgrade-borders with FYROM.

Skopje is calling for the post to state “Republic of Macedonia” in the place of FYROM. The Serbian Foreign Ministry states that the Serbian Ambassador to Skopje, Dusanka Divjak-Tomic, was called to FYROM’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs where a complaint was issued concerning the billboard.
