Single-party gov’t proving illusive – Papandreou party fails to enter Parliament

Front runner may be a seat short of forming a single-party government – The parliamentary strength of SYRIZA will range between 149 and 151 MPs

A single-party government was proving illusive at press time, with final results not expected earlier than midday on Monday.

Based on estimates from  results so far, the front-running SYRIZA party may be a seat short of forming a majority government.

In any case, SYRIZA is expected to field between 149 and 151 MPs — 150+1 is the number needed for a majority in Parliament.

According to the firm Singular Logic, ND is expected to elect 76 MPs, Golden Dawn 17, POTAMI 15, KKE 15, while PASOK and the Independent Greeks party 13 each.
