Small rightist party leader dedicates re-election to … pollsters

“Independent Greeks will support new political reality stabilize”

Independent Greeks’ (AN.EL) leader Panos Kammenos on Sunday evening dedicated his small, rightist party’s re-election to Parliament to the “opinion pollsters”, a dig on forecasts showing AN.EL possibly not exceeding the 3-percent threshold.

Kammenos also made reference to swirling speculation on what stance his party will take in supporting a SYRIZA government, whether the latter fields a majority in Parliament or needs coalition partners.

“The Independent Greeks will support the new political reality stabilize, for the good of the country,” he said in an address to supporters.

Kammenos has been more than positive vis-a-vis the prospect of joining a SYRIZA-led government; SYRIZA cadres have been distinctly cooler towards such a prospect.
