Stathakis: I did not know that I had to declare 37 plots

He didn’t say anything about the non-declared amount of 1,800,000 euros

Economy, Development and Tourism Minister George Stathakis addressed to Greek Parliament referring to the data revealed according to which he had failed to declare 1,800,000 euros and 37 properties.

He said that this revelation is a big lie and he talked in depth about the properties, but he didn’t mention, not even once, the non-declared amount of 1,800,000 euros.

Mr. Stathakis referred to the non-declared properties saying that is a “theatrical play” and lashed out at main opposition party New Democracy and reporters who “don’t cross-check data and reproduce information as it is”.

He said that he has 4 properties, two apartments, a shop and a countryside house and 3 of them were inherited by him. He also said that his wife has 30 plots for which a judicial decision is pending. “I don’t know where these are, they must be at Korinthia and Arcadia. These plots became properties and houses”, he said.

Then, he stressed that he didn’t declare these in 2012 “because I did not know if I should do it, since a judicial decision is pending”.
