SYRIZA leader Tsipras: The Troika is hard on us because they know we are coming

Greece’s lenders are trying to grab what they can while there is still time, Mr. Tsipras said

Talking to SKAI TV on Monday, main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras directly accused Prime Minister Antonis Samaras for choosing a path of destabilization, searching for defectors from the opposition parties in order to secure the 180 votes necessary for the election of the President of the Hellenic Republic.

Using harsh language, SYRIZA head noted that if by chance a President is elected this would only be the result of apostasy, as only the two governing parties are in favor of the presidential election and the among them they cannot garner the necessary votes. Therefore, the government must rely on defectors and PM Samaras lies when he says that he has secured the required number of votes, added Mr. Tsipras.

Commenting on the stance of the Troika, the leader of the main opposition party said that the Troika is now hard on Greece because they can see that the government will not stay in power for long, and therefore they are trying to “grab what they can while there is still time, in an attempt to integrate or subdue the successor.” Mr. Tsipras underlined that a post-democracy experiment is underway in Europe, where people are blackmailed to accept absurd and callous policies in order to secure the next loan tranche.
