SYRIZA opens up to conservative social groups

The party will insist on broadening its social alliances

The main opposition party SYRIZA attempts to broaden its electoral base with new strategic alliances and open up to conservative social groups, while preparing for national elections, and taking advantage of the disappointment of social groups that used to support center-right or center-left.

This strategy was revealed more clearly by Alexis Tsipras’s visit to Mount Athos signalling the full restoration of the relations of the party with the church, but also the complete support of the demands of uniformed regarding the insurance and wage issues.

Also, this strategy is underlined by the fact that SYRIZA supports middle class and severely criticises the government on ENFIA tax asking to withdraw it immediately, but also the farmers by expressing its strong opposition to the European sanctions on Russia resulting in the Russian embargo on Greek products, affecting the rural economy.

All these tactics, especially the first two, enable SYRIZA to address to social groups which up to know did not have the best relationship with the left.
