SYRIZA Parliamentary spokesperson provokes Lafazanis to form party

Elections is the best way, if Left Platform votes against government, says Filis

The rift within Syriza is deepening, as the party’s parliamentary Spokesperson Nikos Filis threw down the gauntlet to the leader of the Left Platform Panagiotis Lafazanis implicitly calling on him to form a separate party, if the dissenters decided not to vote in favor of the government-backed new bailout plans and the associated executive bills. Speaking to a Greek radio station, Filis said that a left government either survives or falls based on its members in parliament, adding that “if you vote against a critical bill it is the same as voting against the government”. He clarified that the most democratic way to move forward in such cases are elections. He commented that the organization of events by Iskra.gr to support the positions of the Left Platform gives an impression of division.
