The intentional omission in a finding regarding the parliamentary probe into political parties’ and media financing of a clause on Proto Thema, has caused an uproar. More specifically, the initial clause which made reference to Proto Thema sustaining a healthy and viable media-business model, with performing loans, was replaced with an irrelevant excerpt on a case of 4.9 million Euros related to the media group’s publisher, Themos Anastasiadis, -a case which has also been irrevocably dismissed in court. It is the third time SYRIZA has changed the committee’s finding in a few days, clearly revealing its spite against newspaper PROTO THEMA. The initial paragraph related to PROTO THEMA in the finding said: “In conclusion…today the company that publishes “Proto Thema” appears with performing loans, healthy and with no problems.” A week later the specific paragraph was replaced with another making reference to the 4.9 million case of the media group’s publisher. The latter issue is completely irrelevant to the goals of the parliamentary committee, and was in fact irrevocably settled on June 23, 2014 with a final verdict by the Greek justice system. See irrevocable verdict below:
Irrevocable court verdict on Proto Thema publisher (2014)
Initial paragraph on Proto Thema being a healthy company with performing loans
New added paragraph in latest verdict
The president of the parliamentary committee, and SYRIZA MP, Antonis Balomenakis admitted that the controversial paragraph in the latest finding was indeed absent from the one sent out to all political parties.
