The European Commission disburses 32.7 million euro to support peach producers

What was decided for the price of fruits not to collapse – The 29.7 million euro will be allocated for the withdrawal of peaches and nectarines and the remaining three million for their promotion activities

On Friday the European Commission regulations published the temporary support measures for the production of peaches and nectarines.

The European Commission approved aid worth 32.7 million euro to European producers, who are affected by the Russian embargo. Of the total amount of the 29.7 million euro will be allocated to support the withdrawal of the fruit and the remaining 3 million will be spent in an effort to promote the products to new markets.

The Commission also announced the increase of the amount of fruit production which the producers organizations may withdraw from the markets and therefore will be free to distribute, from 5% to 10% in order to avoid collapse in the price of certain agricultural products.

Moreover, producers who are not members of the organization should receive 50% of the amounts provided under the existing financial contribution by the Union, with the EU stressing the need to meet the same or similar conditions as those obtained from producer organizations.

In terms of promotion, the four countries of the EU, Greece, Spain, France and Italy will receive 3 million euro, with Greece to take under this 317.215 euro.
