The Greek island that is on the lists of the most romantic destinations in the world

Among Paris, New York, the Maldives and Italy

Romance can mean many things to many people, but few can resist the allure of a getaway for two.

While there’s no wrong answer when it comes to romance, some of the world’s most beautiful spots lend themselves more to couples.

So, whether you’re planning a honeymoon, an anniversary or a weekend getaway you can take inspiration from destinations on our lists of the world’s most romantic – some of which may include spots from Greece.

Some time ago Travel&Leisure presented their list of the world’s most romantic destinations.

Among them, our own Santorini was among them.

Describing the island as the most romantic in Greece, the international travel site focuses on the architecture of the houses, the caldera and the history of the island.

“This enchanting island is known as the most romantic in Greece, with clear waters, whitewashed houses on cliffs and beautiful beaches.

While you’re here, take a hike along the Fira trail for beautiful views, enjoy the sunset on Oia and explore the black sand beach.”

The site’s list of the world’s 50 most romantic destinations for the site includes locations such as the Maldives, Italy, Scotland, Hawaii, New Mexico and Malibu, California.

But this is not the only list in which Santorini is found as one of the world’s most romantic destinations.

According to CondeNast Traveller, “Santorini is the Greek island that stands out – the island with the best views, the best sunsets and the best hotels.

Combine all these elements and you have the recipe for one of the most romantic places in the world. Days are best spent out of the water, sailing on nearby islands and diving among Santorini’s best beaches.

But then again, you could easily stay at one of the best hotels in Santorini – where the pools boast the best views in the Aegean – and never want to leave.”
