The largest blue diamond in the world being auctioned off

It is expected to reach $25 million

The largest blue diamond in the world is being auctioned off today and is expected to sell for up to $25 million.

The gemstone is estimated to reach a selling price between 21 and 25 million U.S. dollars at an auction run by Christies in Geneva.

It is a mineral with a brilliant cobalt color, weighing 13.22 carats and is described as the “largest flawless vivid blue diamond in the world”.

It will lead the sales of a series of impressive jewelry, the value of which amounts to 80 million dollars U.S. Among the precious exhibits, “Ocean Dream” is included, a 5.50 carat diamond, “the biggest and fanciest intense blue-green diamond in the world”. Its value is expected to reach $9.5 million.

Last year, Christie’s sold “Orange”, the biggest bright orange diamond in the world for over 35.5 million U.S. dollars. It was a record price for a sale of an orange diamond in the world.

Last year also saw Sotheby’s auctioning “Pink Star” in Geneva, at a record-price of $83 million, 23 million over the starting price. However, it was later forced to repurchase it, as the buyer went bankrupt.
