The moment a British woman is thrust into the sea by jet turbines in Skiathos (videos)

The woman suffered serious brain injuries

A video published by skiathoslife.gr shows the moment a 61-year-old British tourist in Skiathos being thrust into the sea by the turbine blast of a jet taking off from the small airstrip. The woman suffered serious brain injuries and was taken to Volos hospital.

The tourist can be seen in the video (with the white arrow) on the coastal road next to the sea several metres away from the wall and the terrace but exactly in the same line as the turbines of the aircraft.

In the video, another younger woman also can be seen falling to the ground, luckily unharmed.

This is not the first time an accident has occurred at Skiathos Airport. A few days ago, specifically on June 19, a 79 -year-old man walking on the road next to the Skiathos airstrip saw the plane descend but misjudged his ability to outpace the aircraft. He quickened his pace, but without success, as the blast threw him into the sea, about a 10-metre distance from where he was.

The airstrip in Skiathos has been dubbed the Saint Martins of Europe and attracts many tourists who record the scary close landings of the aircraft.
