The official organiser of Formula 1 sent a reply to a newsauto article.
Specifically, Formula 1 responded to a summer article by newsauto, that Greece wants and will propose an F1 race in Athens.
In a personal communication that a Formula1 executive had with the head of newsauto and Car Takis Trakoussellis, it was stressed that Greece is not even in the future plans for a Formula1 race.
“There are no plans for Formula 1 to race in Greece” (There are no plans for a Formula 1 race in Greece) is clearly emphasised in the reply mail, which was sent as a follow-up to the communication. They even stressed that there has been no discussion, not even… backstage conversation.
The publication quoted us as saying:
According to newsauto’s information, the place that will soon be a candidate to host GP Athens is Elliniko, specifically the streets and the metropolitan park of “The Ellinikon” being constructed by Lamda Development.
In fact, in the studies submitted by the construction companies, it has been requested to take into account the possibility of easy adaptation, according to the needs of such a huge event and without disturbing residents and businesses.
We hear that the F1 organizers are stunned by what is being prepared at Elliniko, and are ready to give the green light even before the full completion of this particular piece. After all, Hellenic will combine all the features of several GPs together: It will have sea, marinas for yachts, greenery, hotels, and casinos, it will be on streets and all of this will be combined in one of the most historic cities in the world…
Undoubtedly, with Hellenikon, but also with the appropriate political and business will, Greece will have a unique opportunity to easily enter the Formula 1 calendar, which already has a few dozen cities in the world in candidate waiting…
Note that the F1 organising company itself contacted the newsauto Journalist. That is, we did not ask a question…
