Turkey violates Greek airspace 44 times – Three dog fights ensued over the Aegean Sea

The invading aircraft were intercepted by the Greek airforce

Turkey launched a new barrage of provocations against Greece, sending 25 aircraft over the Aegean (20 F-16 fighters, three CN-235 spies, an unmanned UAV and a helicopter) escalating tensions.

The Turkish aircraft carried out 44 violations of the Hellenic national airspace and 21 infringements of the air traffic rules in the Athens FIR. It is worth noting that 6 Turkish fighters were armed and engaged in dog fights with Greek fighters on three occasions.

The Turkish F-16 fighter jets moved into nine formations in the Northeast, Central and Southeast Aegean.

According to the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), the Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted in accordance with international rules, in accordance with established practice.
