Ukrainian flag raised in Kherson – Russian withdrawal has been completed

Reports of Russian abandonment of wounded soldiers, Ukrainian shelling & disorderly retreat of Russian units – Antonievsky bridge destroyed

The Ukrainian flag has been raised in Kherson in pictures circulating on social media amid reports of a chaotic Russian retreat, with troops having destroyed the Antonievsky Bridge.

The Russian retreat appears to have been unorganized, with reports of leaving of wounded soldiers behind, while the Ukrainian shelling across the Dnipro River continues.

An estimated 20,000 Russian troops were stationed on the western side of Dnipro, in and around Kherson.

The flag located in the center of Kherson is believed to have been raised overnight possibly by insurgents active in the city, as residents largely stayed indoors.

According to Russian reports, Ukrainian forces have entered the city.
