Weather front “Elpis”: The next hours until Tuesday morning are crucial (video-photos)

Further deterioration of the weather is expected in the coming hours

The bad weather front “Elpis” is in full swing, pounding the country causing serious problems.

At the same time, the bad weather has caused problems to public transportion, while cancellations are also noted in flights.

For the region of Attica, according to the available forecast data, the snowfall will continue until the early morning hours of Tuesday 25/01, which from time to time will be dense.

According to the forecast data of the National Observatory of Athens/Meteo.gr, the effects will gradually intensify with heavy snowfall even in the coastal parts of Eastern Sterea and Peloponnese, while the large amounts of snow are expected in the next hours in Evia.

There is a huge raffic jam at Attiki Odos too, at the height of Pallini due to heavy snowfall. According to car drivers moving in the direction from Pallini to Athens, the situation is desperate and dozens of cars remain immobilized.

The Fire Brigade submitted a request to the management of Attiki Odos to close the entrances to relieve the situation.

The tolls of Attiki Odos have been opened to facilitate traffic.

The Fire Brigade warns that the calls to its operational center will increase in the coming hours and will need to assist on several fronts, as a further deterioration of the weather is expected in the coming hours. For this reason, it is considered as a fact that similar problems will be added to the existing ones, i.e. with thousands of vehicles trapped on main roads, including the Attiki Odos.
