Winter storm in the USA: Frozen landscape and Niagara Falls (video-photos)

The most famous waterfalls are practically impossible to freeze completely

The intensity of the historic bad weather that swept the USA in the previous 24 hours, leaving behind dozens of dead, looting of shops, and dramatic stories, is also captured by the photos of the famous Niagara Falls, which partially froze due to the extremely low temperatures.

The reason why the falls did not freeze despite the severe cold and near-polar temperatures lies in the large amount and constant movement of the water.

Even so, the partial freezing of the world’s most famous waterfall on the border of New York state and Canada produced some impressive images.

As the New York Post reports, Niagara Falls has reached the point of total “freezing” five times in the past when chunks of ice blocked the flow of water, so in 1964 metal girders were installed to prevent such phenomena.
