WW2 mortar remnants found at Philopappou Hill in Athens (photos-video)

Transported to Avlona military range

Greek tourist police discovered the remnants of a WW2 mortar at Philopappou Hill in Athens Thursday afternoon. A bomb disposal squad was immediately dispatched to the scene to examine the finding.

According to initial reports, the projectile is dated to the Second World War, as the area was a battlefield. The site has been blocked off and the bomb unit will attempt to take the mortar Avlona military range to safely destroy the remnants.
