A small “palace” in Athens is waiting for…the bureaucracy

New life for an old historic building

After many delays and lost chances for EU funds, it finally seems that one of the symbolic buildings of Athens will be delivered to the public again. The “Acropole Palace”, a cosmopolitan hotel of the past is waiting for the final decision regarding the final touches needed after a long restoration process.
The total budget reaches 1,8 mil. Euros and the initial plan was to be ready by 2015. Of course, this didn’t happen.
The hotel was built in 1928 on the design of architect Sotiris Magiasis and it a classic example of Art Nouveau. It was featured in many Greek movies but it was left to its fate and its decay lead the 2012 fire.
