The Athens International Airport set a new traffic record with 1.1 million passengers in January, up 11.9% from the same month last year, representing the highest January figure ever recorded, it announced on Tuesday.

According to data released, Greek and foreign travelers rose by 12% in January, while domestic passengers totaled 438,000, up 16.5%. International passengers totaled 654,000, up 9.1%. The number of flights totaled 11,452 in January, up 6.5%, of which domestic flights rose 8.0% and international flights rose 5.4%.
