Ioulia Karapataki to headline Antipodes & Greek Fest at Darling Harbour

Karapataki will perform at the Antipodes Festival in Melbourne on Saturday 28 February, followed by the Greek Festival of Sydney on Sunday 1 March

Newsroom January 26 10:59

The Greek Community of Melbourne and the Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales are delighted to announce that the headline act for their respective annual great Greek gatherings is the popular festival singer Ioulia Karapataki.

Synonymous with upbeat festival performances, the diminutive singer with the velvety voice will bring her dynamic performance to the famous outdoor festivals in Melbourne and Sydney.

Karapataki will perform at the Antipodes Festival in Melbourne on Saturday 28 February, followed by the Greek Festival of Sydney on Sunday 1 March.

Karapataki’s broad repertoire blends contemporary Greek sounds with strong folk influences. Her reputation as a stellar performer was only further enhanced most recently with the electric rendition of “To Glenti” “Το Γλέντι” which dominated the Greek summer airwaves and social media streams.

Director of the Antipodes Festival, Jorge Menidis, said Karapataki is a perfect fit for the festival’s 2026 program.

“Ioulia Karapataki has been a much sought after artist that we are most excited and delighted to showcase. Her energy is contagious and her connection with audiences is immediate. She is a perfect headliner for our 75+ hour program and we’re excited to bring her spirit to Melbourne as part of Antipodes.”

Festival Chair of the Greek Festival of Sydney, Pamela Proestos echoed the excitement.

“Karapataki’s music has a contagious energy that resonates instantly with audiences. We’re delighted to present her in Sydney, where her performance will be a highlight of this year’s festival at Darling Harbour.”
