Berlin livid with pro-SYRIZA paper’s caricature of Schaeuble in WWII uniform

Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KIS) refers to 'unacceptable decision and insulting'

Newsroom February 13 08:48

Berlin reacted on Friday against an outrageous editorial cartoon in the leftist SYRIZA affiliated media outlet “Avgi”, which shows German FinMin Wolfgang Schaeuble dressed in a Wehrmacht uniform and threatening to “turn Greeks into soap”.
Schaeuble spokesman Martin Jaeger told reporters that “I will also make use of this freedom of expression, and, on a very personal basis, I say: this caricature is vile and the artist behind this caricature should be ashamed of himself.”
The cartoon appeared on Avgi’s online edition and was signed by cartoonist Tasos Anastasiou.
The caricatured Schaeuble is portrayed as saying: “we insist on the soap from your fat … we are ready to discuss (the issue) of fertilizer from your ashes.”
A reaction to the cartoon in SYRIZA party’s official “mouthpiece” came earlier with a statement by the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KIS), which called the image “an unacceptable decision and insulting”.
