The clause for imposing a special consumption tax on beers produced by Greek small and microbreweries was withdrawn during the discussion of a draft omnibus bill before the Parliament Committee of Production and Trade, since government’s coalition partner Independent Greeks (ANEL) did not approve the measure.
The proposed tax was only supported by 145 SYRIZA MPs and was therefore removed from the bill.
The president of ANEL, Panos Kammenos, had clarified via his Twitter account that his party wouldn’t vote for that measure, since this was not included in the prior actions list.
