More than one meter of snow has accumulated at the mountain passes of Agios Nikolaos and Tympanos in Karditsa, with snowfall being heavy and continuous.

The police announced traffic measures involving the temporary ban of heavy vehicles on the area’s road network, while it is mandatory for all vehicles to be equipped with snow chains or other equivalent anti-skid devices.

More specifically, the General Regional Police Directorate of Thessaly announced that, by decision of the Karditsa Police Directorate, due to weather conditions, from 14:45 today (21-01-2026) and until conditions ease, the circulation of all types of heavy vehicles (trucks, buses, etc.) with a maximum permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tons has been temporarily prohibited in both traffic directions, on the section of the Central Greece Motorway (E-65) from km 72.346 (Sofades interchange) to km 46.900.
