Climbing Festival to take place on Kalymnos from October 9-12, 2014

A new initiative is introduced this year by The North Face, aiming to give something back to the island and its community.

The third edition of “The North Face Kalymnos Climbing Festival”, a unique gathering of climbers and sport-climbing legends, will take place on Kalymnos, the stunning island of the Dodecanese, from October 9, 2014 to October 12, 2014.

Many of the world’s best athletes as well as sport-climbing legends will attend this year’s four-day festival, including John Dunne (UK), Jean-Baptiste Tribout (France), Yuji Hirayama (Japan), Beat Kammerlander and Gerhard Hörhager (Austria), Patxi Arocena (Spain) and Maurizio ‘Manolo’ Zanolla (Italy).

The rich program of The North Face Kalymnos Climbing Festival – 3rd Edition includes climbing marathon competitions for climbers of different levels, a Legends Story Telling Night, the climbers’ beach party and a Deep Water Soloing Boat Trip with The North Face athletes.

A new initiative is also introduced this year by The North Face: for each registered attendee, the company has committed to replace one potentially unsafe bolt on the island for a new one.

Through the ‘1 climber = 1 bolt’ initiative, The North Face and its athletes want to give something back to the island and its community. This will ensure a safe climbing on the steep crags of Kalymnos for many years to come.

The event is co-organised by the Municipality of Kalymnos and “The North Face”. If you are interested in participating, you can register here
