Dorothy King: Laser will solve the Amphipolis mystery

Impatient for the reveal of the amazing findings on the 29th by Katerina Peristeri

Once again American archeologist Dorothy King refers to Amphipolis and its findings.

On the occasion of yesterdays statement by the Minister of Culture from Amphipolis the archeologist posted her comments including excerpts from the interview with Mr. Tasoula.

Firstly she expressed her worry that Greeks overly associate her with Amphipolis, however she stated happy for having the ability to explain and write about the excavations and expressed her anticipation for the Greek archeologist Katerina Peristeri  to present the surprising findings on the 29th  and to reveal the first act of saga of Amphipolis.

The archeologist was the first to express the assumption that filling the rooms with soil was partly to stop them from collapsing and according to the Minister’s statement yesterday it seems that she was right.

Dorothy King also referred to the description of the first human representations in friezes in the third room and that the fact that they are being treated with lasers suggests to her that they were painted. Similar painted figures were found inside the tomb of Hecatomnus, and unlike the sculptures these kinds of paintings can fade and vanish quickly if they are not treated correctly.

Finally she expressed her confidence and admiration of Katerina Peristeri and Michalis Lefantzis for doing an exceptional work at Amphipolis but also the whole team at Amphipolis which according to her is one of the best in the world.
