Farmers’ blockades to split Greece right down the middle

Farmers protesting against the government’s proposed plan for social security reforms escalate their protests actions and despite the bad weather they decide to continue blocking the roads.

On Friday they decided to close the motorway at Tempi Valley for 24 hours on Saturday, as they toughen their stance towards the government.

The valley will remain closed from noon on Saturday until noon on Sunday.

On Saturday 12.00 the ‘Farmers’ Initiative’ representing 62 blockades will meet at Veria so as to discuss farmers’ demands.

Blocks at Promachonas customs on Greece-Bulgaria borders continue, while blockade at Exohis custom decided to open until 11am and then close again for 24 hours.

Moreover, blocks continue at several junctions at Egnatia motorway, at Kilkis perfectures– Evzonon customs and Doiranis customs- , Thessaloniki, Halkidiki and Pellas perfectures, while roads also blocked on the island of Crete.
