Hacked Kremlin tax messages emerged implying that Marine Le Pen’s far-right party had been given a 9-million-euro loan by a Russian bank last year as “reward” for supporting President Vladimir Putin’s annexation of the Crimea. This leak and a Holocaust-minimizing outburst by her father, Jean-Marie Le Pen, has left the French Front National leader’s credibility tarnished.
Her father, founder of the Front National, told French radio that the Nazi gas chambers in World War 2 were just a detail of history. This comments come at a time when Le Pen has attempted to rid the party of the essence of racism and anti-semitism that has marked it.
The 46-year-old leader condemned her father’s words, adding that she “profoundly disagreed” with his comments and the way they were expressed.
