German MEP critical of Greek-Russian deals

German MEP Elmar Brok says deals in Moscow serve Russian interests, not Greek

The European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Elmar Brok said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is aware that “he cannot help Greece financially.”

The MEP said that Russia “cannot restore the Greek standard of living and Greeks would not like the Russians’ standard of living,” speaking with state TV ARD and Bild newspaper.

He said that the Russian investments in Greek infrastructure projects clearly serve Russian interests and are not to the benefit of Greeks, with the only exception being that of energy transport.
