Gov’t is being prepared to have Greece’s borders closed

Thousands of refugees and migrants will get stuck in Greece

Greek government seems to be trying to prepare public opinion for borders’ closing trapping thousands of immigrants in Greece’s territory.

Government’s Vice President Yannis Dragasakis and Alternate Minister for Migration Policy Yannis Mouzalas have stated that there is a great risk EU to close the borders.

If this happens, thousands of refugees and migrants will get stuck in Greece, as both officials admitted.

However, they said Greece will be able to deal with that difficult situation involving 50,000-60,000 migrants.

“We have to be prepared for every scenario, even for borders’ closing, without this meaning that the country exits the Schengen zone,” Mr. Dragasakis told Alpha TV channel, while Mr. Mouzalas said that Greece is being prepared to have its borders closed.

At the same time, Secretary General of the Migration Policy Department Vassilis Papadopoulos asked Attica’s mayors to submit their proposals for places that can host refugees and migrants until next week.
