Greece needs reorganising, not tearing down: Tsipras

Refugee crisis should be dealth with by all Europe

Speaking before the Council of Europe, in Strasburg, Wednesday, Greek PM Alexis Tsipras said restoring investment confidence in the Greek economy was dependent on brining the Greek debt back to a sustainable path through visible and binding measures.

Tsipras argued that the flexible labour market needed a structural reorganisation and not tearing down. He went on to say the neo-liberal model of managing the economic crisis in the EU was proven to be wrong. ‘Due to its failure, the neo-liberal management of the crisis fed the monster of nationalism and the extreme right and fascist populism’, underlined Tsipras.

The Greek PM claimed that more Europe was needed, adding that a change of course was necessary with a new social contract for Europe. Tsipras made reference to a possible ‘Brexit’, stressing that regardless of the mandate, the breaking point at which Britain found itself should be reason for concern. Finally, Tsipras pointed out that the refugee crisis could only be tackled if all Europeans acted in unison.
