Greek schools to open on September 7

The mandatory use of masks was also being considered

Greek schools will open on September 7, clarified the general secretary of the Ministry of Education, Anastasia Gikas in an interview with public broadcaster ERT.  She added that the mandatory use of a mask for all students was one of the protective measures against Covid-19 also being considered.

“Teachers start on September 1 to prepare what is needed so that our children can be welcomed in schools. We are more informed and more prepared this time “, stressed Mrs. Gikas, speaking to ERT.

The final decision on the schools, she underlined, will be made two weeks before the students enter class rooms and based on the latest epidemiological data.

Regarding the two scenarios for the operation of schools in the midst of a pandemic, according to Mrs. Gikas, the first case being looked into is to conduct classes with very strict distancing measures and mandatory use of a mask for everyone.

The second scenario being examined is to adopt an approach similar to the one used a few months ago, ie to the rotating system, whereby students will be separated into groups attending classes.
