Greeks the rudest drivers of Europe; and somewhat reckless too

Italians outdrive the Greeks in recklessness, but the Greeks win in the rudeness department

Italian Motorway operator Vinci described Italians as the most reckless drivers following a survey that questioned 10,000 Europeans on their driving habits. 58% of Italians responded that they were reckless, a figure backed 38% by other EU drivers when refering to Italians. 20% of Europeans found that Greeks were reckless, making them the second most dangerous motorists in Europe.

Greeks by far considered themselves rude when driving, with 74% agreeing that they had succumbed to road rage such as insulting or making rude gestures when bickering with other drivers.

Swedes were viewed as the most responsible and civilized drivers (37%), followed by Germans (27%), and British and Dutch drivers (11%).

The 10 EU member states surveyed were: Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden.
