Everyone has either been or heard of famous Greek beaches such as Navagio, Porto Katsiki, Myrtos, etc. We are here to unveil a new ‘gem’ that is not only unknown to foreigners but most Greeks too. We present to you Aspes Beach. The majestic Aspes is located 58km south of Heraklion, Crete in one of the most remote and inaccessible areas of Asteroussia Mountains. The only way to get there is by boat. It’s name means mountain collapse in Greek due to sliding cliffs in the area. It has a dark coloured sand, surrounded by vertical high cliffs where caves have been formed. The colours of the waters are vivid turquoise.
