Not to be outdone by its Sunni Muslim cousin of Saudi Arabia on harsh sharia law punishments, the Shiite Islamic Republic of Iran will carry out the ‘eye for an eye’ commandment against a 28-year old man who had gouged out the eye of a 25-year old man in a fight 5 years ago. The accused was convicted based on the country’s barbaric sharia law system. The NGO ‘Iran Human Rights’ protested over the imposition of the punishment against the who came to be known as Saman, arguing he had unintentionally taken out the eye of the other man during an altercation. It has not yet been revealed when the punishment will be carried out. Since 2013 when ‘moderate’ Hassan Rouhani took power there have been 1,800 executions and numerous beatings and public lashings.
