Jennifer loved her Greek grandma (photos)

Jennifer espouses her Greekness because she always felt in tune with her father's side of the family

Newsroom January 25 09:44

Jennifer Aniston’s rocky relationship with her mother is no secret. The 45-year-old star explains that her mother Nancy Dow, a gorgeous model, was very critical of the star when she was young. The two became estranged after her mother wrote a tell-all book about their relationship, titled “From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir”. Even before the book, however, their relationship was rocky.

Following her parents’ divorce when she was aged just 9 years, Jennifer turned to her father’s mother, Stella, for support.”She was a Greek grandmother who just loved me more than anything and was so fun to be around,” reveals Aniston, that could explain why the star has hung on to her sense of identity as a Greek thorughout the yeasr. “She had the best stories, she made me laugh. Beautiful, funny, gorgeous, hysterical — all the Greeks, all of my Greek family, were.”

Her grandmother’s death is remembered by the star as a traumatic moment in her life. “I was around 21 years old, and it was the first time I’d had a loss. It was really sad. But then, like anything, you have to move on.”
