Licensing for hydroplanes at Amphipolis port

A number of companies have asked for the go-ahead for the use of the old Port of Amphipolis

The recent dig at Amphipolis has cast the spotlight on the “forgotten” port of Amphipolis. In October, the Amphipolis Port Authorities will examine issuing a license for the use of the waterway of Amphipolis by waterway companies that have expressed an interest in including the specific destination on their schedules.

Amphipolis Mayor Costas Melitios says that travel companies have asked for the green light to be given for hydroplanes to land in the area. The port, situated 2.5 km away from Kasta Hill where the excavation of the ancient tomb is taking place, was last used after WWII as a major commercial and passenger port.
